Your Free Trial Class: What Happens in It

Not a sales call — a real one-to-one lesson with a level assessment and a personal plan. What the teacher checks, what to prepare, and what happens after, honestly explained.

First, the Honest Answer: It Is a Real Lesson

Many academies advertise a “free trial” that turns out to be a sales call. Ours is not. In your trial class you meet a qualified teacher one-to-one over video call, you (or your child) recite, and you are actually taught. The teacher listens, corrects, and assesses — and at the end you get a clear recommendation about the right course and starting point. There is no obligation to continue, no payment details are collected, and the class is free whether or not you ever come back. If you want the mechanics of booking, they are on our free trial booking page — this page explains what the lesson itself is like.

Before the Lesson: 3 Minutes of Preparation

You need almost nothing: a phone, tablet, or computer with an internet connection and a video-calling app. If your child already has a Noorani Qaida or a Mushaf, keep it nearby; if not, the teacher shares all learning material on screen, so nothing needs buying. Two small things genuinely help: a quiet corner where the child sits for class each day, and — for younger children — a parent sitting nearby for the first lesson. That is it. There is no test to revise for and no homework to complete beforehand; the whole point of the trial is to find out where your child is today.

Our child safety guide explains how lessons stay safe and transparent for families — including why a parent nearby is welcomed, not merely allowed.

During the Lesson: What the Teacher Actually Checks

The lesson follows the same shape as a regular class, because it is a class — just with assessment built in:

  • A warm start: the teacher introduces themselves, puts a nervous child at ease, and learns a little about the student — age, previous learning, and goals.
  • Listening first: the student reads or recites what they already know — letters, Qaida pages, or Mushaf verses — while the teacher listens carefully to pronunciation and fluency.
  • Real teaching, not just testing: the teacher corrects mistakes as they happen and teaches something new, so the student leaves the trial having genuinely learned, whatever the level.
  • Level placement: by the end, the teacher knows where the student sits on the Quran learning path for kids — Qaida, Nazra, Tajweed, or Hifz — and what pace suits them.

For a complete beginner, the assessment is gentle by design: recognising a few letters, or simply seeing how the child responds to their first Arabic sounds. Nobody is expected to perform, and nobody is judged for starting from zero.

After the Lesson: An Honest Recommendation, Then Your Decision

After the trial, the teacher shares a personal plan: the right course, the right starting point, and a suggested number of classes per week. Fees are shared at this stage — after the assessment, never before — because the plan differs for every student, and we do not publish a fixed price list that would mislead anyone. Then the decision is entirely yours. Continue with the same teacher, who already knows your child's level from the trial, or walk away with a clearer picture of where your child stands. Either way, you keep the recommendation.

If you are still comparing academies, two guides help: how to choose an online Quran teacher lists the questions worth asking any academy, and our USA comparison checklist shows what honest fee and trial answers look like. And if your daughter will be learning, you can request a female Quran teacher for the trial itself, so you judge the actual fit.

Questions Parents Ask Before Booking

The most common worry is shyness — a child who has never had an online class, or who freezes in front of a stranger. Teachers here are experienced with exactly that: lessons are warm, unhurried, and paced to the child, and a parent may sit nearby throughout. Another worry is pressure: will we be chased if we say no? No — the trial carries no obligation, and a “not yet” is accepted without follow-up pestering. The remaining questions, from lesson length to fees, are answered in the FAQs below.

Parents Ask — FAQs

Is the free trial class a real lesson or just a sales call?+

A real lesson. Your child (or you, for adult students) meets a qualified teacher one-to-one over video call, recites, and is taught — not pitched to. The teacher assesses the current level, corrects recitation where needed, and recommends the right course. There is no obligation to continue, and no payment details are ever asked for.

How long does the trial class last, and what should we prepare?+

Plan for a normal lesson-length session. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with an internet connection and a video-calling app. If your child already has a Qaida or a Mushaf, keep it nearby; if not, the teacher shares all material on screen. A quiet corner and a parent sitting nearby for younger children is all the preparation needed.

What exactly does the teacher assess in the trial?+

Four things: (1) letter recognition and pronunciation (Makharij) for beginners; (2) reading fluency from the Qaida or Mushaf for readers; (3) Tajweed accuracy for fluent readers; and (4) the student’s pace, confidence, and attention — so the plan fits the child, not just the level. For a complete beginner, the assessment is simply: where on the learning path should we start?

Will my child meet the same teacher afterwards if we continue?+

Yes — the trial teacher becomes your child’s dedicated teacher. Keeping one teacher matters: they already know your child’s level, mistakes, and pace from the trial, so regular classes start from exactly the right place instead of re-assessing from zero.

Can I request a female teacher for my daughter in the trial?+

Yes. Qualified female teachers are available, and you can request one when you book. The trial is taught by the teacher you requested, so you can judge the fit yourself before committing to anything.

What happens after the trial class?+

The teacher shares an honest recommendation: the right course, the right starting point, and a suggested number of classes per week. Fees are shared after the trial, based on that personal plan — we do not publish a fixed price list, because the plan differs for every student. You then decide, with no pressure and no follow-up pestering.

Is the trial really free, with no hidden charges?+

Yes. The trial class costs nothing, and no payment details are collected at any point in booking it. If you choose to continue afterwards, the fee for your personal plan is shared with you first, and regular classes begin only once you agree.

What if my child is shy, or has never had an online class before?+

That is normal, and it is exactly what the trial is for. Teachers are experienced with first-time online learners: lessons are warm, unhurried, and paced to the child. Parents may sit nearby throughout, and if the child needs a gentler start — shorter first lessons, or a parent present — the teacher builds that into the plan.
